Ep 326: The Mindy Project

Mindy Kaling left The Office at the end of last season and created her own show. It forces us to think about the nature of the modern sitcom as a whole and leads to a really interesting discussion.

John brings us a bit of missable delight with another Just Don’t Bother.

There’s also some letters and we each have one thing.

  1. Jaime Sanchez says:

X is pronounced “ek-kis” (like the beer ‘Dos Equis’)

  2. Is it weird that I find the idea of The Naked Jungle kind of charming? I mean, obviously children’s tv presenters nude is not something anyone ever wants to think about, much less see, but I do love the idea that there was a time and place where tv program developers thought- “Naturists competing for a small cash prize, hosted by Keith Chegwin? Ratings gold! How could this possibly go wrong?”. Naive, sure, but kind of lovely.

  3. David Boxcutter says:

“I mean, obviously children’s tv presenters nude is not something anyone ever wants to think about, much less see,”

Are you kidding? Who hasn’t thought of Miss Helena naked? She saw me through her magic mirror! It’s only fair to reciprocate.

  4. I kinda think that all three of you missed the point of “Just don’t bother” in your intro. It’s not about boring shows (because boring shows make boring segments). It’s about shows that have fascinating stories behind them, yet are never the less crap. It could be that the segment is mis-titled – maybe the segment should be called “Crap show, interesting stories”. Or “That’s Hubris-tastic”
