It was Serbia who won Eurovision 2007 with a horn-rimmed glasses and comfortable shoes wearing, rumoured lesbian, not Spain.

Also, the title of the Greg Fleet vehicle is Die on Your Feet, co-starring Alan Brough.

  1. I have learned so much listening to this podcast – not least of which is I need to box on during a cold and should've come up to see you crazy guys at Vibe that Eurovision Sunday.

Next year I won't be so soft.

  2. But have you submitted your list kind lady?
    Nelly

  3. There's time for partying and time for convalescing. I'd rather you were healthy but joining us in spirit.

And yes, please submit your list.

Nelly: John and I both come from W.A. and only got ABC and GWN, and we didn't look a Press Gang horse in the mouth. Or something.
    Geddidinya.
    Murray 🙂

  5. I'm not sure about you, Murray, but I think the Boxcutters crew may have missed Press Gang because we're all too old. At the time of broadcast we were all probably a couple of years older than the target demographic. I'd heard of the show but only seen a few episodes and it was going back recently to rewatch it I was stunned by how good it was. On one of the DVD commentaries Steven Moffat talks about how the production quality was far higher than it needed to be, just because really good technical peeps enjoyed working on it. So they had feature-film lighting crews working far below their pay scale simply because it was a fun gig to do.

On top of that you've got sparkling dialogue, a fondness for non-linear storytelling and a pre-Absolutely Fabulous Julia Sawahla as Lynda Day (and for Lynda, imagine a more competant Bernard Black running a school newspaper). What's not to love?

  6. Nelly Thomas says:

GWN! I cleaned the house of the GWN sportscaster (Tim something?) at uni. He had two bathrooms – posh. But still never heard of Press Gang… I'm seeking it out now. Nelly

  7. ABC 2 (or 3 i forget) have been doing press gang reruns in the morning before work. i never got to see it when i was a little tacker but are very much loving it now.

  8. murrayNE says:

It started running while I was at high school, so I probably was in the right demoraphic. The final series wasn't shown here until I was at uni.

  9. murrayNE says:

It's actually SevenTWO that is showing Press Gang now. The first time it's been on free-to-air TV in Aus that wasn't the ABC.

  10. murrayNE says:

Press Gang led to me meeting my wife, so it holds a very special place in my heart, but I was very much a dyed-in-the-wool fan prior to that.

  11. What do you mean by “the Boxcutters crew may have missed Press Gang because we're all too old”?

    Firstly, I didn't miss it.

    Secondly, I DIDN'T MISS IT!

Don't include me in the Cropley-Thomas Home for the Aged.

Now, if you'll excuse me I have a game of Giant's Treasure to get back to.
