I like the sound of this…
TV Anywhere recently announced its upcoming plans to make American television programming available to subscribers residing outside of the U.S. This new service will allow viewers to watch live linear TV, on-demand movies and shows, and daily local news on either a PC client or a digital IP based set top box connected to the subscriber’s television. The service is also broadband enabled.

I like the sound of it too. Whats the bet the major networks lobby the government to protect their interests.

The legal action that Nine have taken in relation to other companies providing EPGs would indicate that they’d sorely love to stomp on this innovation for the Australian audience but I think they’re gonna be screwed this time.
If the govt can’t do anything to keep porn out of the Australian network – I strongly disagree with any censorship anyway, so it’s a good thing – then there’s not going to be an enforcement method even if the lobbying worked.
That’s a win for us and poetic justice for viewer hater networks. Hooray! If TV networks were more respectful of their audience and the programming content – rather than the advertising and cross promotion – maybe everyone wouldn’t be looking for alternatives and they wouldn’t have found themselves in their current position.
