Trouble For Nine

Boxcutters Europe office pointed me towards this article after listen to our show week.

I understand it is a difficult position for Nine, but promoting shows that have already been cancelled and therefore can’t run even half the series is pointless for the network and an insult to their audience.

  1. Yeah I am having fun watching nine come up with titles like “The new Smash hit ‘Kidnapped’ on nine in 2007”. Mind you the pushed ‘ROME’ for all it was worth and never ended up showing it till the end of the year.

Is this the audience’s revenge against Nine? For years Nine has had good series that it has “pissed” (sorry cant think of a better term) all over, such as West Wing and The Sopranos (hey Nine even had Seinfeld at one stage!). They have been beat by Seven to the good series so they have been stuck with the lower end, and are getting series that are being cancelled.

As for Rome, its an ongoing series from what I saw, but Nine decided to kill it within weeks of showing the series due to programming mistakes. Nine are very good at promoting things and the using their programming to kill them, they have done this with multiple series.

At least no matter what Nine does they wont be able to kill these series because they are already dead.

  3. Nine is going to get spanked hard by Seven this year. Its like someone fell asleep at the wheel, they have nothing really worthwile this year. I mean Tribes? please!

Oh and how great is it to be able to watch Letterman before midnight on Ten this year!

  4. It will be interesting if nine loses CSI: What Ever. Without those, they have nowt.
