Ep 192: Southland, Quotes, Crap TV, Letters

Southland is a new show from the US about police. We review it. The rest of the episode is good and full of information about television. Really. It’s wonderful. Also there’s an I Don’t Buy It to destroy a generation.

  1. Rob Boxcutter says:

I am doing this for KUDOS ONLY, as I already feel amply swathed in Boxcutters/Crumpler generosity (having recently won the sexiest Crumpler laptop bag), plus I am too fat and bald for Crumpler T-shirt action. Perhaps that is why I am not MARRIED WITH CHILDREN!

Am I really the only freak who listens to the sidebar audio??

  2. Rob Boxcutter says:

… I know a man was outta touch
And he'd hide in a house and he didn't say much
Deedle-dee deet deet deet deet deet deet deedle dee doo …

  3. murrayNE says:

Well damn it, Rob, if you're going to wuss out and restrict yourself to only the first two posts here, I'll accept the kiss blown by John. πŸ™‚

  4. Rob Boxcutter says:

No, No, I renounce my status as FIRST. Really.

  5. murrayNE says:

I'll see your fatness and baldness and raise you, Rob (avatar represents only the latter adequately), but if you're really experiencing a spell of lactose intolerance to the milk of Boxcutter kindness, I'm always up for a T-shirt. Married with Children y'all.

  6. I've missed the crunchy granola suite.

  7. I'm currently working through The Wire – currently working through series 3 – and I've got NO idea who the two guys doing the questioning in the box are. I do have a weird feeling I may have seen that clip a few years ago though.

I'm completely stoked the Granola kids are still around and, not only that, listening to the bit we've been doing all this time without any idea if anyone listened. Make it all feel worthwhile.

    Good lord!

  8. I feel guilty now – I wouldn't even have checked the sidebar if Rob hadn't mentioned it. I'm a fraud. A FRAUD, I tell's ya!

By the way, does anyone know why the webpage updates well in advance of the iTunes/RSS feeds? I have a vague idea that this may have been mentioned as an oddity last week, but I can't find any reference to it.

  9. Rob Boxcutter says:

Though it don't say much, and it won't offend
If you sang it at school, they're liable to send you home
    Never knowin' what you're showin'
Think you're growin' your own tea
    … Good lord …!

  10. murrayNE, I'm looking into it right now… at just shy of 2am.

I made sure the enclosure was included tonight – thought it may have started to be automated again, since I cleared out any double ups and inserted everything properly last week, but it seems it wasn't so added manually. It seems to be an issue with feedburner – still it hasn't updated. The Google buyout and shifting around of servers seems to have caused some instability.

I'm about to check on auto ping settings at both our WP end and the FB admin ends. I'm not thrilled about the delay.

If the enclosures aren't going to be included automatically – the primary reason I chose to use WordPress in the beginning – I guess I'll install another plugin to specifically deal with the media and see if there's been similar experiences out there.

    DIG!

  11. Oh God, I'm sorry! I'm responsible for the wrath of Siobhan- I introduced her to the podcast. I believe she was very very drunk, though- and has nice eyes. Thank you, Boxcutters, for revealing her to me as an utter bitch, and an illiterate one at that.

  12. John_Richards says:

Hee hee hee. Oddly, I had managed to work out she'd emailed from a server in Canada, but hadn't connected her to your lovely self. Do you know what set her off? Is she an enormous fan of Kyle Sandiland's work, for example?

I'll make sure a blow you a kiss on the show next week, Murray.

  13. Rob Boxcutter says:

    Give Murray the Tee!

    I renege.

  15. murrayNE says:

I liked that you were omitted from Sigh-oh-barn's mailout – she knew beter than to suggest that *you're* not a winner with the ladies. πŸ™‚

  16. murrayNE says:

Can I just mention, not relating to any T-shirt issues, which I will be happy to go either way, that I both understand the pattern of when you post these, and am much impressd by it.

… or I am fundamentally misunderstanding what I think is going on.

  17. Just turned out my spam filter was being over-enthusiastic. I found a bunch of Boxcutters messages I'd never seen!

  18. John, you lived in Vancouver- you know bloody well there are only 10 people in the entire country. I'm still trying to work that out- the only thing I can think of is that she is a massive Fringe fan, but I have no idea what episodes she heard *shrugs*

  19. Well, since it's now Friday and nobody else has claimed the t-shirt, I might as well. The laugh track on the Wire clip is from Married…With Children.

Since the competition did stipulate that we had to mention that.

  20. And now, four hours later, I notice that Rob did in the first post. Yeah, I rock my observational skillz.
