Jericho gets picked up (Ugly Betty too)

Hot on the heels of Heroes Jericho becomes the second of the new fall season to get the nod for a full series.

Good to see, although I am sure Brett would think maybe they should have just picked up every second ep!!

And Ugly Betty makes it three. Good news for Channel 7 who have both Betty and Heroes.

EDIT: Brothers And Sisters picked up as well.

Boxcutters Episode 56

Hey all

This week not one but two, count ’em two big special guests. Our first ever guest Ed Phillips makes his triumphant return to celebrate Temptation’s 300.

And Jess McGuire returns (more a correspondent than a guest, but we haven’t seen her for a while) to bring us up to speed on Idol.

Plus more Crap TV ranting against Channel 9’s blatant stupidity with Sopranos, a few little Raywatches, our continuing Fall line up preview, as well as news and pork.

BAD Fox News

Just thought I’d post a screen cap of Mark Foley as a Democrat – he’s admitted to being an alcoholic homosexual with mental problems so, of course, he MUST be a Democrat!

Mark Foley - NOT Democrat - Florida

Boxcutters Episode 55

This is where all the TV news is. Ross talks about another bank ad in I Don’t Buy It. Brett talks about the dodgy dealings of Fox News in Raywatch. Josh gets very angry about Free TV Australia. There’s a discussion of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and Heroes in our ongoing look at the fall schedule from the US. Ross fills us in on Britney and Kevin: Chaotic and then we finish the whole thing up with some pork.

Nobody could ask for anything more.

DL Tips

Hey Kids!

It must be the warmer weather or the spring time of year getting people’s hormones going but there’s a feeling in the air that’s palpable. You can tell it’s going on all around you – just out of sight – and you might be missing out… the feeling of billions of little bits zooming around the net pipes into the living rooms and offices in your neighbourhood.

So I thought I might make things a little easier for you to get in for your share – and of course it helps everyone else doing it at the same time – with a few links to bittorrent resources that are floating my boat.

The most handy site I’ve found for the new shows in the US fall season is iPodNova. You’ve gotta register to get your hands dirty but there’s no restriction for registering and, with a good UL/DL ratio, it makes you feel good with every page you look at, with your personal scoreboard at the top. Get on board at ipodnova.net.

There’s a site that specialises in Australian/New Zealand Sports and TV shows that is normally an invitation only site – oops, it is again now – DAMN! – called Diwana.org. I got a heads up that registrations were open a week or two ago so picked one up – you never know when you’ll wake up all Sports Billy and just HAVE to get a torrent of the NRL Grand Final. Here’s a sample of the shows available on the front page right now:

  • What A Year S01E01 XviD – Look back on the year 1975
  • Australian Idol S04E21 – Live Verdict – And then there was 8
  • MONEY – Paul Clitheroe and Georgie Parker
  • A1GP Round 1 – Zandvoort – Sprint and Feature
  • Marking Time – Another excellent John Doyle drama.
  • NRL Grand Final 2006 – The Grand Final from Channel 9’s telecast on 1/10/06
  • neighbours-02-10-06(m).xvid-ss
  • Air NZ Cup – R10 – Northland v Southland – Repechage Round 3
  • Australian Idol s04 ep20 Top 9 Live Performance singing the Hits From the Year They Were Born
  • CNNNN Complete v2
  • NRL – The Best Of The Footy Show 2006
  • Blue Water High s02e14 27-09-06
  • Round 3 A-League Goals – All goals from third round of the 2006 A-League Season
  • First Tuesday Book Club 05-09-06

It’s nice having a site that specialises in local TV – even if there is so much sport content there. If there’s another open season for regos or if I happen to earn some invites, I’ll let you guys know.

The other regular one I use for hard-to-gets is bitmetv.org which I got onto through an invite from regular listener, Alex Boxcutter. I’m guessing there’s a fairly high contingent of local members because I was able to get something quite rare like S1&2 of Love My Way from there. The great thing about this site is the quality control of the encoding, etc of the downloads. They’re quite strict about only having one available version of a show in the best quality. I’ve been quite active on this site and have a good ratio (2.550) going on so I might have an invite or two soon…

Other than those – and not necessarily just for TV torrent downloads – I use Torrent Scan which is a handy multi-tracker-searcher that gives you a list of good trackers to run the same search in until you find what you’re after. My faves are isoHunt and Torrent Reactor and then I click around fairly randomly.

So there’s some rockets for your arsenal – get out there and keep our world-beating per-capita rating going (if you’re in Australia – otherwise, forget you read any of this and don’t you dare click on any of those links. DON’T! STOP!)

Boxcutters Episode 54

You wanna know stuff? About TV? Well, you’ve come to right place.

On this week’s thrilling installment we solve the mystery of the two version of Rome (Of course we don’t solve why the bbc butchered it, or why Channel 9 showed the bbc version or even why Channel 9 thought it apt to axe it just hours after the first ep went to air… sigh…).

There’s not 1, not 2 but four “I Don’t Buy It”s, focusing on pasta, sweat and other unmentionables.

We take an extended look at the real good HBO drama “Big Love“, as well as a smaller look at some of the newies in the US Fall schedule.

Plus news, pork and more pork.

Get it here:

Say it here: hooray@boxcutters.net

Rome gone?

Last week Brett broke the news that Channel 9 were planning to screen ep 2 then ep 4 of Rome and we speculated if that might be because it would be gone by then…

Next week Survivor is on the 9:30 slot with no sign of Rome.

They suck. Why put anything on at all if you are not going to give it a chance. Sure it didn’t rate great. And Josh didn’t like it. But still, why bother screening it? Very, very disappointing once again. At the risk of sounding like a disgruntled Green Guide writing moron – no wonder so many people are downloading.

Orson Welles Outtakes

I remembered I promised this little link for you guys…

It’s the Orson Welles outtakes for some Californian champagne he was shooting while, perhaps, having sampled too much of the client’s product.

Hammond suffers brain injury

Here’s a bit more info on the state of Richard Hammond after the accident that we mentioned on the show this week:

PRESENTER of British motoring program Top Gear Richard Hammond suffered a significant brain injury in a high-speed crash in a jet-powered car while filming for the program, a hospital spokesman said today.

“He has suffered a significant brain injury,” the spokesman said.

“It is still giving cause for concern as it is still early after the injury. However, we are reasonably optimistic that he will make a good recovery.”
