Torchwood

The “Doctor Who” spin-off series “Torchwood”, will make its way onto Australian screens in 2007 on the ABC.
Torchwood tells the tale of a secret organisation which looks into strange and Alien goings on in Cardif. This new series brings back some familiar faces. John Barrowman reprises his role as “Captain Jack Harkness” a short term companion to the Doctor and Rose and will head up the team, while Eve Myles “Gwen Cooper” and Naoko Mori “Tosh” both get full casting after bit parts in Doctor Who.

I dig Torchwood. The first season has about 2 eps to go but it’s been picked up for a 2nd season albeit on bbc2 this year.
it’s a strange show, alot of the reviewers hit it on the head when they talk about it wanting to be adult but also being very cartoonish. If you can get a few eps into it I think you’ll enjoy it as it gets more mature as the season goes on but still very enjoyable.

Oh also the other dr. who spin of the sarah jane show has aired in the uk I haven’t seen it yet but it’s out torrent.

Good to hear its going to be on the TV. I sent an email ages ago to the ABC telling them they should get it (and if they have when are they showing it, they wont tell you of course).

I wonder whether we’ll get it before they show the next season of Dr Who

Also loved Torchwood. Does try a bit too hard to be “Dr Who for grown-ups”, but it does grow on you, as the characters are enjoyable to watch.

Seen the Sarah Jane Adventures episode also, and it’s more in the vein of Dr Who and she has kids as companions (looks like that will be the case). Seriously, how much stuff can Russell T Davies churn out?

While we’re on the subject of the ABC, it’s a little disappointing they also didn’t screen the “behind the scenes” companions to DR Who (Confidential) and Torchwood (Declassified) as well. Fans of the shows would like them!

One last thing – Has anyone else seen the special “Dr Who Confidential, Music and Monsters” which was basically Dr Who meets the orchestra? This is where Dr who scenes were played in front of a live audience with an orchestra playing the music? I kid you not.

    Just seemed wrong to me…
