  1. Thanks for another great episode!

What about tens “Australia Day Live” on the 25th. I am still scratching my head over that one.

  3. (I was going to e-mail this to you, but I wanted to share this with the fucking WORLD!)

I’m surprised you guys didn’t do a spot of ad-reviewing this episode! Anyway, if you do do it next ep, here’s my candidates:

I DO BUY (or did buy, as it was only on from Sunday to Thursday) the new version of Sam Kekovich’s ‘eat lamb for Australia Day’ ad – bloody funny, and even though it was tamer than last year’s one, it was still controversial enough to force an emergency meeting of (cue slap bass) the Advertising Standards Board, who found no real reason for the ad to be pulled. Fucking wowsers.

I DON’T BUY the ‘Hitsorcist’ ad for Austereo’s Today Network radio stations (and the resultant website), because: 1) a character can make or break an ad, and this one shatters it into microscopic particles (as does Barry the Monkey…but don’t get me started about him); and 2) this ad doesn’t put the radio stations in a good light – after all, it’s their fault for playing those hits far too often enough to get stuck!

Oh, and I went searching the Interwebthingy to find out what the fuck Clever is actually about, and found this explanation. See also its more extravagant sibling, MegaClever, which I could see Nine doing as a bunch of occasional 90min/2hr specials, if they could afford it.
Even now knowing what the show’s about, I have no idea whether the format will work or fail over here – I reckon it depends on how much they can un-Germanify it…

  5. Daniel G says:

Just when I thought all the Austereo ads would be crap (Barry, Hitsorcist), along comes this one for breakfast show The Cage. Not for the actual ad, which you can watch there, but for the ‘insert a friend’ feature/gimmick. It’s been quite fun matching names and insults to create sentences like:

“Brett… wears fluffy bunny slippers down to the shops.”
    “Josh… says ‘whoopsi-daisey’.”
    “Ross… is a sweaty mofo.”
“Brett… has breath that smells like bin juice.”
“Josh… has yet to reach puberty.”
    “Ross… practices tantric sex alone.”

I haven’t tried uploading a photo to insert into the ad, though. Which reminds me: put a photo of yourselves up on this site – I don’t know what you guys look like…and I want to try putting your faces in the ad!

Lastly, check out this source code from the page:

(Am I becoming annoying, by the way?)

  6. Daniel G says:

Damn it, the code didn’t load.

    There were these keywords:
“the cage, cage, triple m, radio, funny, video, TVC, make your own ad, commericial, trailer crashers ripoff, mexican pole dancing, polar bears go wild, midget wrestling, fruit salad recipes for the stars, word jumbles, worlds fastest rubiks cube, Julius Ceaser and MC Hammer Remix, Keywords to make you go Hmmmmmmm, theres no limit, gonna make you sweat”

    And this comment:
“Site by the Sweaty MOFO’s at Soap Creative – http://www.soap.com.au
and yes we know it’s just like Trailer Crashers”

  7. Not sure if you guys have seen it (I’m only 4 eps in) but “Over There” is worth a look. Also looking Entourage nearly finished Season 2 and it keeps getting better. New listen but loving the show, keep up the great work.

    Cheers
