BB on C7

Brett Boxcutter just got vox popped by channel 7 news about the Jackson Street shootings.

They’ll probably use the snippet of “Nah, you wouldn’t expect a guy to pull a gun on you in that situation” and completely ignore the refutation of reporter-on-the-spot’s claim that it’s gotta make you fearful in St Kilda.

Channel 9

So Kerry’s gone and Jamie couldn’t look after One-Tel without it crashing and burning hard – I thought Seven were gonna be in trouble again in 2006 but now… I’m not so sure.

Should be interesting times in TV land, people. Keep watching the skies.

Boxcutters Episode 16

That time of year has arrived when lists are made and forced upon you, the loyal Boxcutters listener. We apologise in advance for putting you through the self-indulgent barrage of best and worst shows for the year. We promise that it will be worth your while.* It really will.**

Wrap your listening gear around what Boxcutters reckoned were the:

  • Best Drama
  • Best Comedy
  • Best Religious Talk Show
  • Best Popular Science Show
  • Best Extreme Game Show
  • Best Up-Late Game Show
  • Best use of old Bert Newton footage
  • Best screaming ad of 2005
  • Best Best Lists of 2005

We ask that you want nothing else from this show because disappointment often offends.

Have a great holiday breaky period of fun, frivolity, sun and dancing. We will return in 2006 with more about television (and maybe a fancy light and laser show).

* Not a core promise and we reserve the right to not live up to any promises made.
** It probably will not.

End of Year List

Hey there funky chicken. Got an opinion? Want to share it?

We’re getting ready for our last show for 2005. It’s going to be quite the event. I’m even thinking of buying some streamers.

Anyway, as is customary at the year’s end, we’ll be discussing the highs and lows of 2005 and we want your help.

Tell us what your favourite shows were for this year. What did you think was the worst? What was your least bought ad for this year? We want to know. Also, nominate your choice for Miss Boxcutter 2005*.

* Not a real competition.

Boxcutters Episode 15

Things get steamy in the studio for the HOTTEST BOXCUTTERS EVER.

What have we got for you this week? We got:

  • reviews of Survivor, Shopping for Love, Stacked and Tommy Lee goes to College;
  • talk about the summer TV goodness coming up on our screens;
  • sitcoms;
  • new shows;
  • and our beloved I Don’t Buy It.

And of course, on top of all that, there’s enough news to choke a mule.

Gone?

Just saw an ad for Will & Grace… 4 nights a week 7 till 8 Channel 7…

Poor headLand – maybe it was just too beautiful for this world.

EDIT: Sorry – a bit premature with my prediction of headLands demise. I must have miss seen the ad. Will and Grace is back AFTER headLand from 8pm. Sorry for the confusion. Although given headLand dropped from 743,000 viewers on Monday night to 613,000 by the end of the week one has to wonder how long 7 can stick with it.

That having been said it apparently ‘picks up’ from ep 15… It would want to.

And also, while Ch 10 are winning plaudits (ok, only from me) about their handling of Futurama, they continue to disappoint in other areas. Teen soap “One Tree Hill” was bought back for summer last Saturday night only to get canned this week for a new show with amazing facts about the human body.

Truly craptv.

Come Ch 10… I know it’s all about rating, but why torture your “One Tree Hill” fans like that?

In case you missed it

If you missed The Power of Nightmares – the series that Ross was talking about on the show this week – you can download it over at Archive.org

Boxcutters Episode 14

Sure, we still go on a bit but now you get Boxcutters so much earlier than before.

This week you can find a whole bunch of news as well as:

  • A discussion of TV highlights from the week just gone including My Favourite Film, This is Your Life and The Power of Nightmares;
  • Ross refuses to buy two hours of TV about Post-Its;
  • and Josh discusses the wonders of skivvies, sci-fi and espionage with the sixties series The Prisoner.

Then we have the usual stuff like New Shows and answers to the quiz from last week.
