COMPETITION! Design a Boxcutters Logo

That’s right. Boxcutters needs a logo to put on this website as well as t-shirts, mugs, hats.

Send your designs to hooray@boxcutters.net by October 18 and you could WIN WIN WIN, cover yourself in glory and become an honorary Boxcutter as well as receive the first of everything* we make with the logo on it.

*”Everything” will be limited to certain things over a particular amount of time. It will not include ownership of the website. In fact, the prize will probably be limited to 1 t-shirt, 1 hat, 1 mug, limited honour and glory.

Would You Believe…

Boxcutters mourns the loss of one of the great television comedy actors. Don Adams has died at the age of 82.

Here is the New York Times’s article.

He will be favourably remembered as his character Simon the Likeable.

Blokes and Marriage

Our romantically fickle listener, Kerrie, writes:

I used to want to marry Brett, but now that I’ve found out about his guilty Footy Show pleasure, I think I want to marry Josh now (if he’ll dump Jennifer Love Hewitt for me). Rooly looking forward to Australian Princess, by the way (I’ll even hold your hand while you weep over Jackie O)

Speaking of The Footy Show and guilty pleasures, one of you guys really should talk about Blokesworld. This show needs a comment from a bloke’s perspective.

We’ll make every effort to check out Blokesworld before the next show and give it our two cents.

Unlike Danny Bonaduce, Josh has a 3 date minimum before agreeing to marriage.

Ep 3: Arrested Development, ACMA, Muppets

This week we’re talking about Save the Muppets, Kath and Kim going long, the ABC not quite getting the idea of the encore presentation, Big Brother‘s troubles with the Australian Communications and Media Authority, Arrested Development returning to Australian free-to-air screens, channel Ten‘s inferiority issues and pattern of resurrecting other networks’ cast offs, the Emmys, our competition launch to design a Boxcutters logo, I Don’t Buy It with the Bundy Bear and other alcohol advertising, and Denise Drysdale‘s support problems on the latest Bev Marks ad, new shows coming up on TV, How I Met Your Mother, Raywatch, the Herald-Sun Guide, including the letter of the week, TV news, the inaugural Boxcutters Quiz (get your entries in) and Glenn Close

Breakers

Brett says he never saw this excellent but short lived Australian soap.

Find out all about Breakers.

Boxcutters has (limited) International Appeal

Betsy, a Californian listener, writes:

As you all but mentioned at the beginning of Episode 1, I didn’t think your show would make much sense to me, since I watch no television, let alone Australian television. I have, though, thoroughly enjoyed your ad-bashing segments so far, especially since I don’t have to watch the ads you describe.

9 Had No Balls

One of our listeners, Chad writes:

I couldn’t believe there was a time when channel 9 didn’t use the balls on their logo, but I googled them, and sure enough you guys were right. (http://austvhistory3.tripod.com/Nine/nine.htm). Meanwhile, I remember the ‘still the one’ tag from watching kids shows in the early 80s, so that could be due for a change.

Episode 2 — Programmes (etc.) We Discussed

Unfortunately there isn’t a Dancing With The Stars: Strictly Backstage site but it is worth checking out the photo of Daryl to wonder at how they made him taller than his co-host.

The Posture Alert will surely traumatise your kids.

The Footy Show will surely traumatise your kids.
