Ep 348: Maron and Sport

It’s Glenn’s last episode and so we talk a lot about how TV has ruined sport. Or is it the other way around?

We review the US cable show based on a comedian and his podcast and desperate cries for love. It’s Maron! You might already listen to his show. You should listen to ours instead.

Not as well. Instead.

Notes

Maybe there are notes and maybe there aren’t.

There aren’t. Sorry.

I forgot to say bye to Fred. Bye Fred.

    • Bye, Glenn, you may have talked about sport too much and thought that imitating advertising was a good thing, but … dammit, you were a Boxcutter, and you can be proud of it.

  2. Paul Boxcutter says:

    Sheesh, it’s pronounced num-three-ers.

    🙂

  3. David Boxcutter says:

Another one bites the dust. So long, Glynn.

Although I won’t miss the discussions of sports.

  4. Gavin Boxcutter says:

So many errors when discussing Maron. Full disclosure, I’m a longtime fan and enjoyed the entire series of this.

The D&D nerd was not the same guy as “Garret in Community”, it was actually Matt Mira from the Nerdist podcast.

All of the situations that Maron gets into are not meant to belittle anyone else, but show how broken and ill prepared for daily life that Marc is. As far as women go, if anything, women are usually put in the position of power, completely controlling Maron and turning him inside out.

I think it probably needs to be viewed as a series, rather than just the first couple of episodes and yes, there’s unlikely to be any acting awards for the comedians, I actual found it more easy to relate to the emotions.

For a similar style of “comedian playing a version of themselves” you should check out Jim Jeffries’ Legit. Another one that needs to be watched all the way through, but with an outstanding cast its terrific.
