Quizmania ‘Technical Difficulties’

This was left in a comment in a hidden away little place and I thought it deserved a little more exposure.

Good work Matt – none of us happened upon that episode…

BB

Hey Boxcutters,

Matt Boxcutter here. Got home last night, a few beers and a dodgy souvlaki short of my usual self and decided that I would tune into ‘Quizmania’ on Network Eddie. Well…imagine my surprise when I saw that yes…it was Quizmania…but no…there was no quiz. A glitch in the Netwrok Eddie phone system meant that the hosts (two women, who i have never seen before…and after last night…may never see again) had to ‘improvise’ for an hour or so. We were ‘treated’ to speculation about Jessica Simpson’s sexual proclivity…a race between one of the girls (on a trolley pushed by the floor manager) and a monkey (on a trolley pusehd by one of the camera people)…enquiries about the wellness of the crew…a discussion about John English looking like a Panda…and a lot of sunglasses on…sunglasses off…pained banter. I’m not sure if Eddie was watching, but the girls were just about to read out a joke email (yes…it had come to that) when they both grabbed their ear pieces…apologised…and said to stay tuned for some Drew Carey. Drew Carey followed…then another ten minutes of trying to get the phones to work…and then back to Drew Carey. The best late night entertainment that any of the three networks is liekly to put on for some time, and thoroughly enjoyable. Who would have thought that those quiz shows are actually better without the quiz element?

Cheers,

Matt.

It’s pretty well done…

Boxcutters Episode 47

This week we’re joined by guest co-host James Talia who helps us keep things in perspective about all things Channel Nine. Brett tells us about his investigation in Top Gear editing practices. Ross brings us a review of the new Ricky Gervais/Steve Merchant comedy series, Extras. We all discuss the nature of JTV and Josh looks into the Kiss of Death for Australian TV shows.

Look out, baby, it’s coming straight at you:

Send it straght back: send us email

and not just any ep…

… but the unmitgated, absolute genius of “All’s Well That Roswell”!!!

Welcome back Futuramam with one of the all time best ever episodes. The one where we find out that Fry is his own grandfather.

Good riddence Yasmin. Your replacement is infinitely superior.

Lost Experience / AI

My mistake… The online world created around the timeframe of the Kubrick/Spielberg film, AI, was called The Beast and not the Monster.

Still, it was much, much better than what we’ve seen of the Lost Experience. Perhaps it had something to do with the cool factor of being able to discover the game without the “come on everybody, here’s a mystery phone number and a FANTASTIC game you’re going to LOVE!” we’ve seen with Lost. And it was much more of a community effort to solve the puzzles and put the pieces together.

Here’s the Wiki and Sean Stewart’s (head writer) description.

Yasmin is no longer getting married…

Just announced by Channel 10 – Yasmin has been axed.

Good news for all us Futurama fans with the great show moving into the 7pm timeslot.

No word yet on whether Yasmin will get married in any case or if she is destined to be alone her whole life.

Poor Yasmin.

Still, at least Channel 10 are out there trying new things.

Sugartits

I was serious about the mock-up Sugartits. Ze Frank‘s The Show – my favourite video podcast in the world – has it all here.

And don’t forget to check out the Boxcutters Video Podcast here.

Boxcutters Episode 46

Back by popular demand – special guest panellist Marieke Hardy.

And what a big show it is!! So many grudge matches you’ll think it’s Wrestmania 46 not Box Cutters 46.

They said we should never let them in the studio together, but we did it anyway – Marieke Hardy and Jess McGuire square off (and talk a little Big Brother 06).

Josh exposes the House Vs All Saints and the fight over the very few medical storylines available (and in true wrestling style switches allegiances at the last moment – I don’t want to say too much but look out for that cheap chair shot, All Saints).

Ross takes on previews and ad revelation in a Crap TV cage match.

And BreBo gets ready to rumble with the world in general, especially the fiasco that late night television has become.

Ep 46. It’s ON!!!!

Boxcutters Episode 45

Big show. Brian Nankervis from Rockwiz joins us via the telephonic machine to talk about his involvement in TV history. We each take a turn in getting angry through some Crap TV, reviews of Penn & Teller: Bullshit and the Lady Voldemort. Our ending is very APT and compelling. Listen for clues and help solve the mystery.

That’s Boxcutters: Episode 45… or is it?
