YES or NO: Belated Summer of Shitty TV Edition

I was going to do this after each episode, but on second thoughts, I might shift this back to Fridays. It doesn’t seem right on Tuesdays…

One show I took off the list was Australia’s Brainiest Radio Star [7.30pm Thu, 10], as the response would’ve been fairly predictable (“NO: it contains Jo Stanley!”). The only thing I wanna say about this repeat is that the winner was a radio star when the show was taped, but was boned by the time it aired!

Simply copy the following, paste it into the comment box, and edit where necessary – even explain why you made your choice if you like! Dunno what the show’s about? That’s what the links are for!

1) The King Of Queens [7pm Weekdays, 9] – YES or NO
2) Weeds [9pm Tue, 9] – YES or NO
3) Life As We Know It [10.30pm Tue, 7] – YES or NO
4) Australian Princess [7.30pm Wed, 10] – YES or NO
5) Da Kath & Kim Code [repeat; 8.30pm Wed, ABC] – YES or NO

9) How The Hell Did We Get Here? [7.30pm Sat, ABC] – YES or NO
10) Movie: Flashdance [9.30pm Sat, 7] – YES or NO
Bonus Question: Who should replace Naomi Robson as host of Today Tonight in 2007?

A Fall Follow-up

3 Lbs which we spoke about recently has been pulled from American screens.

After weighing the latest Nielsen numbers, net execs confirmed Wednesday that the Peter Ocko-produced medical drama has been placed on hiatus effective immediately… Skein’s low ratings dropped each week it aired, with its overall young adult average of a 2.7/7 down 16% from that of previous slot occupant “Smith.”

Meanwhile, NBC has given the thumbs up to 30 Rock and ordered a full season. The series was moved from its Wednesday night timeslot to Thursday 9:30 were it could be surrounded by other comedies. The move worked and ratings were up 13%.

Like Rod Stewart said…

… Tonight’s the night.

Tune in to 3RRR 102.7MHz in Melbourne or listen through http://rrr.org.au/player/rrr.ram if you’re out of town.

Alternatively you can wait for the podcast.

Update
That would be at 7pm tonight on 3RRR. Thanks, Loyal Listener Lyndal.

Episode 63: A reminder

Just a quick reminder for all those expecting to download an episode tonight or over the weekend.

We’re taking a break for this Thursday and will be back live on the air this Tuesday, 5 December. That’s right. From 7pm AEDT (that’s GMT +1100 for those who can do the maths) you will be able to listen to Boxcutters live on 3RRR.

The show will still be podcast for those who can’t get to a radio or maybe some of you have one of those special radios that only pick up the cricket.

Those of you who are not within range can still listen live on the web.

Go to http://rrr.org.au and click on “Stream” on the left hand side. Brett has mentioned an alternative to Real Player. Maybe he can help us out in the comments.

Who will save Wa Wa now?

Naomi Robson has quit Today Tonight. The details are at The Australian‘s ‘Media’ section.

But remember people . . .

YES or NO? Week 2

After your hearty endorsement last week, everyone’s favourite game* returns for a second week, and here’s good news: now you can play Yes Or No at the movies! Simply decide between ‘yes’ or ‘no’ after each trailer screens. For example: Borat, yes; The Santa Clause 3, no. It’s the best thing to happen to the “pre-show program” since imagining that these people are looking at porn!!
*provided that Josh, Ross, Brett, Daniel G, Lyndal, Nigel P, Esther and fourthof5 are “everyone”

Just copy the following, paste it into the comment box, and edit where necessary – even explain why you made your choice if you like!

1) Movie: Wimbledon [8:30pm Fri, 10] – YES or NO
2) Iron Chef America [8:30pm Sat, SBS] – YES or NO
3) The Idol final [7:30pm Sun, 10] – YES or NO
4) The Comic Relief thing [7:30pm Mon, 7] – YES or NO
5) The StarDancers final [7:30pm Tue, 7] – YES or NO
6) The 2006 Glass House Awards For Eksalince [9pm Wed, ABC] – YES or NO
7) Look Who’s Talking [not the movie; 8:30pm Thu, 9] – YES or NO

CBS has found that offering video downloads increases the audiences for their TV shows

A poll taken by CBS found that over half of the users who streamed CBS shows on the Web had never seen the shows before on TV. According to CBS, the new users then became fans of those shows.

“We’re looking at this as a key change in direction for us now and looking at our programming as dual distribution programming–over the air and on the Internet,” said CBS Corp. research chief David Poltrack.

The CBS poll reinforces the trend towards free, ad supported video downloads and podcasts of television content.

Lights picked up

I am sure there is some sort of clever stupid title I could have used like Lights Burning Bright or something equally witty but the important info is Friday Night Lights has been picked up for the full season.

Good news, good show.
